Ronnie served in the SC National Guard and built a life marked by steady work, quiet bravery, and unwavering honesty. A hard-working man in every sense, he dedicated over 40 years to Westinghouse, earning the respect of those who knew him for his reliability and the straightforward integrity he carried into all he did.
He was a Master Mason and a Shriner, commitments that reflected a devoted spirit and a kind-hearted regard for others. Ronnie was also an award-winning member of the World Karting Association, a pursuit that showcased his determination.
Outside of work and service, Ronnie was an avid runner and loved working on classic cars —interests that suited his steady hands, persistence, and the satisfaction he found in doing things well. He was a member of the local classic car club and corvette club. He had dry wit and perfect comedic timing. He also was a member of East Columbia Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Above all, Ronnie was a cherished and beloved husband, father, and grandfather who loved his wife and family deeply. He is survived by his wife, Betty Hicks; his daughter, Dana Hicks Kalin (Larry); his son, Ronald Barry Hicks (Tesha); and his grandchildren, Sara-Julia Hicks, Whitleigh Kalin, and Hampton Hicks. He is also survived by his brother, Terry Hicks (Dianne); his sister, Cathy Hicks Pate (Lewis); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his dog, Chevy.
Ronnie was predeceased by his grandson, Dallas Ashton Kalin; his parents, Steven Eugene Hicks and Marjorie Pigate Hicks Drawdy; and his stepfather, W.C. Drawdy.
