Ron served 22 years in the United States Air Force. In retirement he enjoyed working outdoors, doing yardwork, and gardening. He was known for his quick wit and amusing anecdotes.
Ron was born in Galax, VA and was the son of the late William and Etta Howlett. He was the oldest of four children.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Bonnie; his 3 children, Lisa, Alan, and Brian; and his sister, Wanda.
