Ronald was born in Peckville, PA and was a graduate of Scranton Central High School. He signed as a pitcher with the New York Yankees organization after high school. After baseball, he attended the University of Mississippi, where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. He earned his Ph.D. at Mississippi State University in Psychology. During his almost 50-year career, he worked in Mississippi, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina as a psychologist for each of the respective states. His most valued work was with the University of South Carolina Athletic Department, where he served with the Sports Medicine staff for almost 30 years simply known as “Doc.”
He leaves behind his wife and high school sweetheart, Barbara Morris, to whom he was married for over 50 wonderful years; his only son, Chase (Rebecca) of Piedmont, SC; his beloved granddaughter, Anastasia Warren (Harrison) of Vicksburg, MS; sister-in-law, Karen Sherman (Arthur) of Ventnor, NJ; brother-in-law, Dr. Adrian Morris (Elaine) of Milford, DE, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lexington, SC or the St. Thomas More Catholic Church Land Fund in Columbia, SC.
The celebration of Ronald’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 5, 2021, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2350 Augusta Hwy., Lexington, SC. Burial services will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Scott Township, PA.
