
COLUMBIA – Russell Clark Munn, Sr., 66, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 in Columbia, SC. Born August 3, 1945 in Camden, SC, he was the son of the late Hazel Clark Munn and Tasca Sue Reynolds Munn.
Russell was a generous and gracious friend to all who knew him. His career as a public servant and businessman spans more than forty-five years. Russell was a graduate of AC Flora High School and the University of South Carolina, where he was a leading member of the University’s golf team. Russell began his career in banking before serving as the assistant to the former South Carolina Speaker of the House of Representatives, The Honorable Rex Carter, and former Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, The Honorable Bobby Kneece. President of Munn and Associates, Russell is remembered as an outstanding lobbyist who for more than thirty years represented business interests at the South Carolina State House including the SC Chamber of Commerce, CSX Corporation, Special Olympics, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, International Game Technology, the S. C. Dry Cleaners Association, the S.C. Association of Nurse Anesthetists, and the title lending and payday lending industries. He was a proud father to his three children and soon-to-be proud grandfather.
He is survived by his children, Allison Munn Holroyd (Scott Holroyd) of Los Angeles, CA, Russell Clark Munn, Jr. of Columbia, and Meredith Reynolds Munn, of Brooklyn, NY; and his brother, Dan Reynolds Munn (Libby Munn), of Columbia.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2011 at Shandon United Methodist Church, 3407 Devine Street, Columbia, SC 29205. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
