Ruth S. Koon

LEXINGTON – Funeral services for Ruth S. Koon, 78, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church with visitation following the service in the Fellowship Hall.

Mrs. Koon was born May 16, 1939 in Lexington, SC and passed away Monday, August 28, 2017. She was the daughter of late, Jacob Lester Sons and Essie L. Arnold Sons.

Mrs. Koon was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church where she served on various Boards and Committees. She was a member of the Lady Auxiliary of American Legion Post 7 in Lexington. She worked at the SC Highway Department and Digitron where she worked with punch cards. She later ran an in home day care where she cared for dozens of children over the years. She was an avid Gamecocks fan and loved to cook and work in the yard and garden.

Surviving are her sons, Jay Koon (Kim) and Matthew Koon (Jenni) of Lexington; grandchildren, Jacob, Katie, Lochlan and Reed; brothers, James Sons (Olene) and Donnie Sons (Shirley); sisters, Mary Green, Marjorie Carter and Ann Watkins. She was predeceased by her husband, Dean Koon; sister, Minnie Lee Yarborough; brothers, Walter, Johnny, Franklin, Fred and George Sons.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lexington Medical Center Extended Care for all the care and compassion. A special thanks to all her friends and family for all the calls, cards and visits.
