Ruth J. Spencer

She was a member of Congaree Presbyterian Church in Cayce and served as Moderator of Presbyterian Women, Circle Chairperson, taught Sunday school, and sang in the church choir along with the Classic Singers and the Jubilant Singers. Mrs. Spencer retired from Bank of America, was past Matron of New Brookland Chapter 104 Order of Eastern Star, member of Cayce Chapter #260, and member of numerous Bridge Clubs and Sheppard Center of St. Andrews. She was an avid bowler and very active in prison ministry.

Mrs. Spencer is survived by her daughters, Charline Witherspoon (Ken) of Lexington, SC and Bonnie Parker (Paul) of Luthersville, GA; and a son, Phillip “Monty” Spencer Jr. of Lexington, SC; grandchildren, Christina “Tina” Keel of Lexington, SC, Barron Keel (Christy) of Lexington, SC, Cynthia Hayes of Luthersville, GA and Christiana Corbett of Florida; 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Claude E. Johnson and her grandson, Michael Hayes.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072. A private service will be held for the family on December 17, 2021.
