Our beloved mother and grandmother, Sandra Elizabeth Ouzts, age 87, of Cayce, SC, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, October 17, 2024. Born Sandra Bickley in Columbia, SC, she grew up in the Dutch Fork area and was the daughter of the late Henry Jacob Bickley and Alda Elizabeth Shealy Bickley.
As a young girl, Sandra was a devoted student. This quickly manifested into a love for literature, specifically historical nonfiction. Sandra married Malcolm Allen Ouzts Sr. in 1957. They made their home in Cayce, SC, where they raised their three children – Allen, Karen and Teresa.
Her passion for travel helped create many meaningful family memories in destinations across the country. One special trip was for Sandra and Malcolm’s 50th wedding anniversary, where they visited many historical sites along the way to Washington D.C and Philadelphia, PA, accompanied by their children and grandchildren.
Sandra was also known for her compassion for all animals. All her loving pets through the years were rescued strays taken into the Ouzts home to remain spoiled and cared for during their life.
Most importantly was the enduring love she had for her family. Nothing made her happier than spending quality time together during special occasions like birthdays, graduations, holidays, sporting events and more. This was evident in the number of family photos, event programs, cards and artwork she collected over her lifetime.
