LEXINGTON - Savita Mathur was born on January 5, 1943 in Udaipur, India to the late Gulzari Lal Mathur and Roop Kawar Mathur. She came from a family of four brothers and one sister. Savita Mathur attended Rajasthan University where she received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in music with a focus in playing the sitar. In 1964, she joined her late husband, Dr. Kailash Mal Mathur, in the United States. She resided in Orangeburg, SC for most of her life but after the loss of her husband she lived between her son and daughter in Columbia, SC and Morrisville, NC.
She is survived by her older sister, Shakuntala Rai, younger brother, Mahesh Bihari Mathur, daughter, Shikha Sinha, son-in-law, Arvind Sinha, son, Sameer Mathur, daughter-in-law, Jayshree Mathur, and grandchildren, Megha Sinha, Akash Sinha, and Sonali Mathur.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.
