Sonia Charmaine Campbell was born on July 20, 1965 on the Island of Barbados, West Indies. She was the last of eight children, born to the late Lionel and Zeta Wheeler. Sonia migrated to the United States at the age of seven. Sonia attended The Brooklyn Church of Brethren, and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age. Sonia’s devotion and dedication of service to the Lord emerged by reciting Bible scriptures during Sunday school services and church programs. Sonia had a warm and friendly personality, and her kind nature was loved by many who knew her.
Sonia met the love of her life, Louis “Toy” Campbell. This meeting led to marriage on May 5, 1990. Their union was blessed with two children: son, Louis Jr. and daughter, Toyisha. Sonia was a member of Rogers Avenue Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Brooklyn, New York. Sonia was a dedicated church member and Deaconess. Sonia was also a member of the New Haven SDA Church in Brooklyn, NY. In 2016, the family relocated to Lexington, South Carolina, and their fellowship was resumed at the Ephesus Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Columbia, South Carolina.
If Sonia was here today, she would remind us to live every day to the fullest because life is not promised to anyone; but God, in His infinite wisdom, is our guide in an uncertain world. Sonia’s warm smile, joy, laughter, and positivity will be greatly missed, but will live on in our hearts forever!
Sonia leaves behind to cherish her fond memories: her husband, Louis; her children, Louis Jr. and Toyisha; her step daughter, Cherise; sisters, Marcia and Wendy; brothers, Timothy, Rodney and Dwayne; mother-in-law, Eslyn; brothers-in-law, Edgar, Oneal, Trevor, Rox Roy and Dwayne; sisters-in-law, Heather, Ann, Angela, Glassiom, Cheryl, Shernette; the Browne Family, and other extended family members including Marcia Lewis and Jan Prescod, many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
