Sonja Rosemarie McGinniss of Columbia, South Carolina passed away peacefully on February 14, 2024 at the age of 93. She was born on January 30, 1931 and was the daughter of Gustav and Hedwig Hartmann of Stuttgart, Germany.
She was married to Arthur R. McGinniss (deceased). She was the loving mother of Manfred McGinniss (deceased) (Debbie), Ronald McGinniss (Kathy), Edward McGinniss (deceased), Michael McGinniss (Carolyn, deceased), and Kevin McGinniss (Cindy). She was the grandmother of Brian, Keith, Nancy, Sonja, Ryan, Colleen, Michael, Matthew, Morgan, and step-grand daughter, Erica. She was also the great-grandmother of Blake and Cody, and the great-great grandmother of Raelynn.
Sonja was born and raised in Stuttgart, Germany and became an American citizen in 1953. She loved spending time with her family, especially when the entire family surrounded her at the kitchen table playing games for hours at a time. Her heart was most full when all of her boys were reunited at her home. She enjoyed traveling and her favorite places to visit were Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Cherokee, NC.
