

LEXINGTON – Funeral service for Suzanne Hill McPherson will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 2013 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Following the service the family will attend the interment at the First Presbyterian Church in Columbia. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the funeral home.
Suzi was born March 27, 1947, in Bangor Maine, and passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013. She was the first of five children, born to John Rankin and Ruth Lea Hill. Growing up as an Air Force brat fueled her love for traveling and adventures. She worked as a flight attendant with Eastern Airlines for twenty years. Suzi married Richard Smith McPherson, her handsome airline pilot and the love of her life in 1972. Suzi and Dick traipsed the world together. They rode motorcycles in Germany, hot air balloons in France, skied on snow and water. They lived in Atlanta and later moved to Columbia, South Carolina and lived on Lake Murray for more than 30 years.
Suzi is preceded in death by her late husband, Dick; parents, in-laws, Sam A. and Jessie C. McPherson and brother, Robert W. Hill. She is survived by her brothers, Johnny Hill, and Scott Hill; sister, Nancy Hill Whitaker, all from Texas and her sisters- in- law, Coleman Chambliss and Elizabeth Rice, both of Columbia. Suzi also has numerous nieces and nephews that she loved and adored.
Suzi possessed a zest for life and flew through it from one adventure to the next. She became involved in charitable causes, especially for Veterans. She made new best friends wherever she went, as people gravitated to her good nature. She loved and was loved by so many people who will miss her terribly.
