Thomas James Crooks ,85, of Lexington, S.C. passed away on Monday, January 28, 2024. He was born in Newberry, South Carolina on December 21,1938, the son of Jenette Harmon and Thomas H. Crooks. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Sidelle Crooks Derrick and Jane Crooks Britt.
Jimmy graduated from Newberry High School and Newberry College. He worked in accounting and finance at the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. He also enjoyed a tax preparer business for many years. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Columbia S.C. He was a member of the Pineview Ruritan Club.
Jimmy loved being with his family. He preferred to be outdoors, hunting and fishing; especially on the Crooks Family Farm, he spent many happy hours there. Jimmy also liked to tell his stories, he often shared his Newberry adventures and how he walked to grammar school, high school, and college.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia M. Crooks; his children, Thomas (Paige) Crooks of Savannah, Georgia, James (Tanya) Crooks of Ridgeway, S.C., and Elizabeth Goode of Charlotte, N. C.; and his grandchildren, Forrest Crooks and Edward Crooks of Lexington, S.C., Lexi Dickinson (Clay) of Columbia S.C., Faith Loftus (Simon) of Greenville, S.C., Lawton Crooks and Chandler Crooks of Ridgeway, S.C., and Bailey Goode from Inman, S.C. He is also survived by close nieces and nephews.

The services for Mr. Jimmy Crooks will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
