Tim was born November 2, 1947 in Columbia, SC to parents, Jack Curtis Driggers and Miriam Kaminer Driggers who predeceased him. He grew up in the Oak Grove area of Lexington with his sisters, Donna and Dale and cousins, Steve and Wanda.
Tim graduated from Lexington High School in 1966 and was a proud member of the 1965 State Champion Lexington High School Baseball Team. He graduated from Newberry College in 1970 and the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1973. He practiced law in Lexington for 49 years.
Tim had many diverse interests. He had a vast knowledge of most music genres including rock, heavy metal, jazz, and classical. He started going to see musical groups at the Township Auditorium while in high school, taking his sisters with him. He and his high school friends enjoyed James Brown at the Township many times during the 60’s.
He was an avid reader, especially of historical events. He was a writer who had articles published in state and local newspapers and Sandlapper Magazine. He co-wrote “Stop Where the Parking Lots Full” which was a critique of restaurants throughout South Carolina.
In his earlier years, Tim was heavily involved with politics. In 1979, he was elected chairman of the SC Young Democrats. Tim worked on the Presidential campaigns of George McGovern, Richard Gephardt and Jimmy Carter. He was mentioned in the book “What it Takes: The Way to the White House” which described the secret meeting at his home to end Gephardt’s bid for the presidency. He was also involved in numerous local and state campaigns.
An avid Gamecock fan, Tim was a member of the Lexington County Gamecock Club and took every opportunity to go to home and away games. Despite his illness, he was able to attend several USC baseball games last spring.
Tim loved his mountain home in Saluda, NC and spent as much time there as possible. He enjoyed traveling to Europe and in the USA. Road trips to see concerts in Atlanta, Charlotte, Tampa, New York and other cities were a common occurrence. He always enjoyed his trips to NY City to see his beloved Yankees.
Tim loved God and his church. He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was instrumental in founding Zion’s Thanksgiving Meal Delivery Project. What started out with around 50 meals being delivered in the community turned into a loving ministry delivering between 800-1200 meals on Thanksgiving Day each year. He taught the Senior Sunday School Class for 40 years, served on church council and chaired numerous committees.
Tim is survived by his sisters, Donna D. Corley and Dale Driggers; his nephew, Brad (Kathy) Corley; nieces, Ashley Corley and Shannon Bateman; great-nephew, Matthew (Mackenzie) Corley; great-nieces, Emma and Layla Bateman; his uncle, Walter (Linda) Hendrix; cousins, Steve (Althea) Hendrix and Wanda (Bert) Wingard; and his special friend and traveling companion, Cheryl Ann Vaigneur.
