Vicki Benson Rouse, age 60, of Lexington, South Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, in the comfort of her home. She was born on January 5, 1966 in Baltimore, Maryland.
Vicki was a devoted wife to her husband, Daniel Rouse; a loving daughter to her parents, John Robert and Jacqueline Patricia Benson; and a supportive mother to her children, Zachary Fisher and Katie Anderson (Jordan), and stepson, Clay. She was an especially proud and affectionate “Lovey” to her grandchildren, Margot and Ellis, who brought her immeasurable joy.
Vicki was a member of Mount Horeb Church in Lexington, South Carolina. Throughout her life, God used her gifts to plant seeds of faith in the hearts of others, particularly through her service in children’s ministries. In her final years, Vicki became especially eager to tell others about “her Jesus” and the One who had sustained her through life’s many trials. Her faith was the source of her strength, her hope, and a love she wanted everyone to experience for themselves. Even in life’s hardest seasons, her life was a testimony to the faithfulness of God.
Vicki graduated from Airport High School in 1984 and earned a degree in Commercial Graphics from Midlands Technical College. Her life and career were marked by compassion, kindness, and a genuine desire to help others. She put that heart into action through 19 years of service with Lexington School District, Lexington County First Steps Board of Directors, her work with United Way of South Carolina, and, ultimately, her grant work with Lexington County. She was especially passionate about helping those in need, including homeless and underprivileged children. Through her work and service, she touched countless lives, always seeking ways to extend compassion and care to those who needed it most.
Vicki had a gift for making things beautiful and making people feel loved. You might find her tending to her beloved “Jesus garden,” baking a birthday cake for someone she loved, preparing a delicious meal, decorating a space, or painting, drawing, and creating something special. She expressed her love not only through words, but through the thoughtful things she made, the people she served, and the beauty she brought into the lives of others. She left her touch on everything.
Vicki’s legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the lives she served, the beauty she created. The seeds of love and faith will continue to grow in the lives of those who knew and loved her.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 25th, 2026, at Mount Horeb Church, 1205 Old Cherokee Rd, Lexington, SC 29072. Visitation will take place the same day from 2:00-3:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall of Mount Horeb Church.
