Vickie Price Ettenger, a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, and a loyal friend to all that knew her, was born in Columbia, SC on December 23, 1948 and peacefully entered the Lord’s care on August 29, 2026 at the age of 77. She was the daughter of the late D. Murray Price and the late Frances A. Price.
Her story began in South Carolina, growing up in and around Columbia, Charleston, and Lexington. Following a blind date that famously went awry, she met her husband and soulmate, Warner, embarking on a beautiful 52-year marriage of shared adventures and life struggles.
As a devoted military wife for 22 years she navigated frequent moves that took her to various stations across the country and the world with grace, resilience, and an unwavering sense of home.
They eventually landed back in Lexington, where she devoted her life to her faith and community. For 20 years, she served as the church secretary for St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, a role where her natural gift for making people smile and feel accepted touched countless lives.
Guided by the philosophy to always say hello or ask how someone was doing, she accepted people exactly how they were and believed deeply in the power of connection. Possessing a sense of humor and brilliant wit that eclipsed everyone around her, she dedicated herself to making others smile and laugh, knowing that these simple gestures without judgement could completely transform a difficult day for someone who was struggling.
She lived her life with a rare capacity for grace. Even with her small stature she always chose to be the bigger person, forgiving easily, and quietly giving to anyone in need. She was a vibrant soul that never met a stranger and always made a friend. To know her was to be loved by her, and she left an unforgettable legacy of kindness that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She leaves behind her daughter, Chris E. Odom (Phillip), son, Kevin B. Ettenger (Liz), grandchildren; Isabel, Andrew, Jossi (Wyatt), Danielle, and Nic; great-grandchild, Juniper; brothers, David Price (Ann), Jerry Price; sister, Debbie Moye (Tom) and numerous nieces and nephews and anyone else that she deemed needed an “Oma” or a “Mama-E.”
Predeceasing Vickie are her parents and husband, C. Warner Ettenger.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 119 North Church Street, Lexington, SC 29072 with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072 and also following graveside service in St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.
The family would like to thank Lexington Medical Center, Lexington Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and the nurses on the 9th floor-North for all of the time and care they provided.
