

Virginia Jo (Beever) Charlton, 68, born in Wheeling, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024, in Gaston South Carolina. Born on July 14, 1956, she was the cherished daughter of William Franklin Beever and Josephine Sophia Erazmus. Virginia’s life was a testament to love and resilience.
On February 17, 1971, she married her beloved husband, David Neil Charlton, who preceded her in death on August 30, 2021. Virginia faced immense heartache with the loss of her son, David Michael Charlton, on September 24, 2021, and her daughter-in-law, Heidi Charlton, on April 16, 2021. Despite these tragedies, she remained a source of strength and comfort to her family.
Virginia is survived by her loving children, William Matthew Charlton (Kerri), Joanne Wick (Brian), and Ronda Enyeart. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Brandon Charlton (Breanna), Brianna Bilton (William), Matthew Charlton (Holly), Keri Brazell (Joshua), Carly Charlton, Jacob Charlton (Natalie), Jackson Neil Charlton, Gary Dean Kirchhoffer-Charlton, and Emily Price. Her 10 great grandchildren were the light of her life.
Virginia was the last surviving member of her siblings, all of whom preceded her in death. Known affectionately as “Gin” and “Mamaw,” she was a kind, loving soul who touched the lives of all who knew her. Her generous spirit and unwavering patriotism inspired those around her. Virginia's laughter and warmth will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home – Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072, and will be live-streamed through Bill Charlton’s Facebook page. Services will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229. The service will also be live-streamed through Caughman-Harman Funeral Home – Lexington Chapel’s Facebook page. Those attending the service at Fort Jackson can meet at the funeral home at 10:00 AM. Flowers may also be sent to the funeral home. Virginia will be buried with her husband David Charlton, forever joined together and at peace.
