Wanda H. Bennett

Wanda Bennett was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. She passed peacefully on February 23, 2022 at the age of 69 after a long courageous battle, surrounded by her loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

She was born to Bill and Frances Hudson of Barnwell, SC on March 7, 1952. Wanda lived mostly in Lexington County, but also in Hilton Head, Lake Okeechobee, FL, and Lake Toxaway, NC. She traveled frequently and made friends easily wherever she went. Home was wherever Wanda was.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Wanda. She loved to sit for hours on the beach, rock on the back porch, or take a drive in the mountains in Mercie. Wanda was happiest when she was with her friends and family, especially the grands, who think Grandma hung the moon. Wanda loved unconditionally and touched so many lives. She had a witty sense of humor that was contagious to everyone she met. She never met a stranger and engaged anyone in conversation they just could not resist. She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

Wanda is survived by her devoted husband, Bob Bennett; her mother, Frances Hudson; her four children, Hope Martin Montague, Alison Hudgins Rumph (Stuart), Trey Collins, and Blake Collins; her 4 grandchildren, Caitlyn Roark (Timothy), Caroline Martin, Byron Martin (predeceased), Henry Hudgins, and Piper Hudgins; her great granddaughter, Paisley Roark; sisters, Gail Paulk (Wendell) and Rita O’Neal (Jeff-predeceased); stepchildren, Beth Crawford (Donnie) and Bob Bennett; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service is scheduled for March 4 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel at 503 N. Lake Drive, Lexington, SC. Visitation will begin at 2:30 PM followed by the service at 4:00 PM.
