LEXINGTON – Services for William “Bill” Eugene Bodnark, 78, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2012 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Pastor Herb Gladden will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Oliver Gospel Mission, P.O. Box 7791, Columbia, SC 29202.
Mr. Bodnark was born on June 2, 1934 in Struthers, Ohio and passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2012. He was a son of the late John Bodnark and Louise Buress Bodnark. Bill joined the US Marine Corps serving his country during the Korean Conflict. He left the Marines as a Sergeant. He met his wife, Dianne at work with the Automatic Sprinkler Headquarters in Youngstown, OH. After leaving Automatic Sprinkler, he worked for Clark Equipment in Youngstown and then in Battle Creek, MI. Bill then moved his whole family to South Carolina in 1982 where he began his own Painting and Renovation Company, retiring in 2009. He was a member of the Lake Murray Baptist Church and Senior Sunday School class. Bill loved fishing, metal detecting and coin collecting.
He was greatly admired for his happy demeanor and great personality. Everyone who met Bill felt his warmth and goodness. He will be greatly missed by all.
Mr. Bodnark is survived by his wife, L. Dianne Bodnark; son, Todd (Kim) Bodnark; daughters, Allison (Stephen) Martin all of Lexington and Amy (Ross) Turner of Eatonton, GA; grandchildren, Matthew, Stephen, Alex, Ben, Cole, Hannah, Meghan, Jonny, Keith and Justin; great-grandchildren, Maddie and Christopher; siblings, Emily Heavrin, Edna Aho, Jean Cook, Carol Sapienza and John Bodnark. He was predeceased by his sisters, Louise Ann, Thelma, Betty and Mary.
