Bob was born in Bremerhaven, Bremen, Germany on March 12, 1947 to Isac Ashbell and Patricia Dennis. He received a BA in Business Administration from Southern Wesleyan University and a Master’s in Public Administration from Troy University.
Bob worked as the director of water and sewage for Clarendon County after working for many years at Richland County Utilities. He was an active member of Mount Tabor Lutheran Church, where he enjoyed worshiping each week. Bob enjoyed reading, spending time with family, volunteering to play Santa Claus at the Babcock Center, and exploring the finer points of restaurant menus (and meals!)
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Dennis, of Cayce; sons, Robby Dennis and Kenneth (Vicky) Dennis, both of Lexington, and John Dennis of Fort Lauderdale, FL; grandsons, Mike and Liam Dennis of Lexington; brother, Mark Dennis (Frances) of Gaston; sister, Patricia Dennis of Mississippi; various nieces and nephews; stepchildren, Pam Light (Stephanie Quattlebaum) of Hephzibah, GA, Japheth Light (Monica) of Palm Bay, FL, Beth Murphy (Hunter) of Melbourne, FL; and step grandchildren, Julie, Evan, Eleanor, Micah, Arthur, Annabelle, Oliver, Lydia, and Sarah Grace.
Funeral will be held Saturday, June 18, at Mount Tabor Lutheran Church in Cayce, SC at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mount Tabor Lutheran Church, 1000 B Avenue, West Columbia, SC 29169.
