LEXINGTON – William Erich Hertzog, 69, of Lexington, SC, passed away on March 23, 2020 at Lexington Medical Center. He was born in Binghamton, NY, the son of Mansell Archer and Eunice Stone Hertzog. He attended the University of Rochester where he earned a Bachelor in Science degree in Physics and later attended the University of South Carolina to complete a Master's degree in Computer Science. For many years, he was employed as a computer software engineer writing and testing software at NCR Corporation and later retired from Avtec. In 1993 while employed at NCR, he received the Chairman's Customer Satisfaction Award in New York City.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Herbert and Gary.

A loving husband and devoted father, Bill was an active volunteer for Lexington District 1, including coaching multiple Odyssey of the Mind teams and was a supportive figure for many years in local horseback riding activities. We have fond memories of Bill, when they first came to our Farm. They came to speak with us about boarding their horses. We knew then we would have a great friendship that would last; because of their passion and love for their horses.

Bill always had a kind and gentle nature; which will be surely missed. He was the kind of man that would always help you if he could. We will miss the conversations with Bill, and will carry them in our hearts.

I have many fond memories of Bill picking me and Andrea up from middle school and taking us to riding lessons. He was a very kind person with a great sense of humor. So sorry Andrea and Jean. Sending you and your entire family love, prayers, and hugs.
