We were classmates at Greer High School Class of 1965. Skip was always smiling and laughing at our quarterly reunions. He will be missed by all who knew him. My prayers to his family.

While I wasn't around you nearly as much as my brother Bobby, when I was, you always made me feel like you'd known me forever. You were a very special man, and a true Gamecock. Forever to Thee Skip. Keeping your family in my prayers.

Skip was my big brother in the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity at USC that was formed as a successor to the Maxcy Brotherhood in September 1968. He was always willing to help out the new initiates and take them under his wing. One semester he and I got to room together when I was the Snowden/Woodrow Hall Adviser for the fraternity house/dorm. However, a cute blond nurse, originally from Saluda, kept him busy on many nights and weekends so neither I nor any of the brothers saw much of him that semester.

Skip visited my wife and I at our house in Flower Mound, Texas when he was in Dallas at a pharmaceutical meeting many years ago. We really enjoyed his visit and were able to treat him to some excellent Tex-Mex cuisine. In October 2017, I was in Columbia for the annual reunion dinner of the local Phi Psi alumni and Skip joined Brother Smitty Harrison and I for a drink at my hotel. He then followed us over to the dinner location with some fraternity memorabilia from our college days and shared these and several stories with the brothers in attendance. Since he was one of the original founding members of the chapter who was also a member of the Maxcy Brotherhood, his comments were of interest to all. He called me later that weekend and invited me to come over to his house to visit with he and Jan. However, I wasn't able to arrange it but promised I would do so my next trip to Columbia. Sadly, that is a promise neither of us can now keep.

Skip was a good friend and classmate of the Greer High Class of 65. We have all had a special bond with each other more like sisters and brothers and it saddens me to know we will not hear his voice and have his fellowship with us again. We were all blessed to have grown up with him and walked with him. His smile and humor will be sorely missed. I send my prayers and love to the family

As neighbors "across the pond" for the past 40 years, you are most definitely in our thoughts and prayers. Hopefully Skip and Claudia are at peace fishing in a small pond and laughing, because for both of them that would truly be Heaven. God bless.... George and Jeff Lander.
