
William “Billy” Bailey Mckeown, 87 of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2025. Born in Great Falls on October 30, 1938, he was the son of late A.W. “Sig Mckeown and Sarah “Tunney” McDowell Mckeown.
Billy was married to the love of his life for over 50 years, His wife, Virginia “Jenny” Mckeown, preceded him in death in 2018.
Billy proudly served in the Air Force. He then went on to have a dedicated career in the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Billy loved his family more than anything. He was always there for everyone. He was the one you could always count on, and he never missed an event, game or milestone in his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren’s lives. He will forever be remembered with his pipe in hand, contentedly watching the birds and grumbling at the squirrels.
Billy is survived by the family who loved him deeply: Sheri (Greg) Parker, Russell Mckeown and Russell’s companion Laural Lewis. Grandchildren Gregory (Stephanie) Parker, Lee (Emily) Parker and Carlee Mckeown and Carlee’s companion Nick Batchler, Jr. Great grands; Ellison, Laken, Trey, Luke Parker and Hunter Mckeown. His sister Aubrey Wanser and nieces; Kathy (Clint) Tumlin and Linda (Max) Youngblood. He is also survived by large and loving extended family of great nieces, nephews and cousins.
Billy considered his caregiver, Cleavie Morris, not just his caregiver but a member of his family, and their bond meant a great deal to him. He enjoyed their long talks.
