He first started his working career at Trout Brothers Farm; then, after getting a Bachelor's degree in accounting, he moved onto working for the Bank of Landisburg where he was a loan officer and branch manager. He was also self-employed as a water and wastewater operator for many different small towns, retirement facilities, and campgrounds.
After moving to South Carolina, he started his working career here with Blue Granite, then moving to Water Systems, and finally landing happily with the City of Cayce as a Water Treatment Operator. He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Blain, Pennsylvania. For many years, up until moving to South Carolina, William was a volunteer fire fighter with the Blain Volunteer Fire Company. But, at the end of it all, William was a loving and caring husband and father who wanted nothing but the best for his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Lexington, SC; daughter, Heather (Bradley) Simpson of Newport, PA; son, Raymond of Lexington, SC and three grandchildren, Grace Simpson, Ezekiel Simpson, and Kaylee Simpson.
He was predeceased by his father, Wayne.
