Z.H. “Dan” McDaniel, III, 79, passed away Monday, June 29, 2026. Born February 8, 1947 to Z.H. and Laurena McDaniel in Hemingway, SC, he was a graduate of Hemingway High School and the University of South Carolina.
After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he began a thirty-year career as a chemical engineer with Eastman Chemical Company. A lifelong and avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sharing those times with family and friends. Dan was a member and past deacon of Chapin Baptist Church and hosted many barbeque pig pickings for his church community.
He is survived by Kathryn McDaniel, his wife of 59 years; his sons, Jeffrey (Penny) and Gregory (Alaina); and grandchildren, Hunter (Ciera), Thompson, Edie, Malcolm, and Blythe.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Chapin Baptist Church, 950 Old Lexington Hwy, Chapin, SC 29036. Visitation will follow the service with burial to take place in the church cemetery.
