Obituary of Jerry Dean Breen
Jerry D. Breen, 77, of Richmond died Friday, February 17, 2017 at Reid Health, Richmond. A Liberty native, Jerry was born November 15, 1939 to Walter Dean and Erma Corella Stanton Breen. Jerry attended area schools, including Short High School. On June 25, 1957, he was married to the former, Geraldine “Geri” Waddell in Connersville, Indiana. Jerry farmed in Union, Wayne, Randolph and Hamilton counties. He was a talented landscape artist who enjoyed working with oils, acrylics and pencils. Jerry frequently entered his art in local contests, winning his division numerous times. He was a member of Richmond Senior Community Center and in his leisure time, he enjoyed woodcarving, fishing, mushroom hunting and boating on ‘Captain Crunch.’ Jerry is survived by his children: Randy D. Breen and wife Ae Yong of Winchester; Robby Breen and his wife, Tammie of Union City; Brenda Gibson and husband Jim of Muncie; Vicki Breen of El Paso, Texas; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; his siblings: Donald Breen of Oxford, Ohio; Sue Ellen Ross and her husband, Mike of Liberty; several nieces and nephews In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his wife of fifty-six years, Geraldine “Geri” Breen, who died January 4, 2015; his siblings: Sandra Rubush and Carlton Wooley; his brother-in law: Gene Rubush; his sisters-in-law: Eileen Wooley and Sue Breen. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 23rd, 2016 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty. Interment will follow in College Corner Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richmond Senior Community Center.
