Sellers, Jr., 91, formerly of Liberty, died Sunday morning, September 29, 2013, at Reid Hospital, Richmond. Jesse was born in Brookville, June 20, 1922, to Jesse C., Sr. and Mattie Allen Sellers. Following his high school graduation, he entered the U.S. Army where he attained the rank of Sergeant while serving with the Headquarters Company 194 Glider Infantry during WWII. Jesse’s deployments included the Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Normandy, Rhineland, Central Europe and Ardennes campaigns. He was decorated with the EAME Theater Ribbon with six Bronze Stars and a Bronze Arrowhead, Good Conduct Ribbon and Purple Heart for injuries received in France in 1944. He was a member of the Liberty Lodge, F.& A.M., Military Order of Purple Heart and a 50 year member of the American Legion. Jesse had been employed at Philco and its predecessor, REX Manufacturing in Connersville and had owned and operated a farm in Union County. He most recently had worked as a courier at McCullough-Hyde Hospital and was a carpenter with Miles-Richmond for several years. Jesse is survived by his children and their spouses: Rhonda Pursifull of Connersville; Gary J. Sellers and Laura of Richmond, Karyn Clevenger and Dondee of Carmel, Melissa Davis and Greg of Liberty; his sister: Doris Richardson of Liberty; twelve grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by his wife, the former Patsy J. Kamp whom he married November 16, 1963 in Liberty; she died December 22, 2011; his daughter: Melinda Sellers who died in October 1967; a brother: James Calvin Sellers; and a sister: Ella Mae Louden.
