Obituary of Lowell Harold Cornett
Lowell Harold Cornett, 72, of Liberty and former Connersville resident, died at his residence, July, 17, 2018. Lowell was born July 22, 1945 in Reid Hospital, Richmond to Larkin and Nahoma Gabbard Cornett. He graduated from Connersville High School in 1964 as a member of the National Honor Society and in the top fifteen percentile of his class. He received his bachelor degree in general studies in 1979. On July 24, 1965, he married the former, Susan R. Clement, “his clementine” at the Central Christian Church, Connersville. He began his employment at Philco Ford in 1964 on the assembly line. Lowell was enlisted in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970 where he honorably served his country in Vietnam for two tours of duty. After the war, Lowell returned home and continued his career at Ford as the QS-9000 coordinator and retired in June 2001 from Visteon as the ISO coordinator. In his leisure time, Lowell loved to play poker and pinochle. He was very artistic and enjoyed painting scenes for his family. Lowell was an avid reader and especially enjoyed Lee Child books and World War II themes. Lowell will be remembered for his incredibly strong work ethic and for the compassion and love he offered his family and extended family. He was the ideal family man and loved participating in his grandchildren’s lives. Lowell had an abundant extended family and was proudly “Uncle Harold” to whomever needed a second family. Lowell is survived by his wife of fifty three years, Susan R. Cornett; his son and daughter-in-law: Douglas C. Cornett and Jennifer L., all of Liberty; his grandchildren: Chase Alexander Cornett and Jocelen Zoe Cornett, also known as Papa’s buddies; his brother and sister-in-law: Lee Cornett and Wanda of Connersville; several nieces and nephews; his Mi-ki dog, Miss Megan. Lowell is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Bertha Hudson, Russell, Denver, Charles Edward and Larkin Cornett, Jr. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 21st, 2018 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Garden of Memories. Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
