
He is survived by his loving family: wife of 53 years Karen (Hoeffner), daughter Nicole Sprinkle-Jones, son Jonathan (Hope Ainsworth), grandchildren Chase and Cole Jones. Siblings Ellen (Richard) Ferrante, Richard (Lisa Scudder), Alan (Linda Cooper), and Mark. Brother-in-law Rick (Elly Wilson) Hoeffner as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and their children.
Preceded in death by his beloved son Lee, and loving parents Grover and Marie (Avery) Sprinkle.
Born in Sullivan MO, oldest of five children. Graduated from Affton H.S. lettering in football, basketball, baseball, track; piano accompanist for the choir, played woodwind instruments in the orchestra. Graduate of William Jewell College where he played football: member 1968 NAIA championship football team inducted into the Hall of Fame 2004; NAIA First Team All-American wide receiver. Member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. Barry worked as a warehouse, fulfillment and logistics manager for Hallmark Cards and Wagner Industries until his retirement in 2017. He learned to fish and hunt in every season on his grandfather’s farm near the Little Bourbois and Meramec Rivers. Fly fishing developed into a life-long passion with many enjoyable hours spent on water with family, friends and fishing buddies. He enthusiastically passed on his knowledge to the next generation of his family and through involvement with Boy Scout Troop 374 and Missouri Department of Conservation Master Naturalist’s program. He was an American Red Cross multi-gallon blood donor often called during periods of blood shortages. Above all Barry was kind, humble, and generous putting the wellbeing of his family and community before his own. He was a friend, mentor and supporter to too many to count.
