
Carol Jeane (Atmore) Pfender, 80, of Liberty, Missouri, (Originally Southern California and Newburgh Indiana) passed away on June 4, 2025. Born on March 4, 1945, to the late Newton C. Atmore and Gwynn Atmore, Carol shared a life rich with love, family, and community.
Carol married and later welcomed a blended family, leaving behind her son, Rod Pfender and daughter-in-law, Heather Pfender of Kansas City, Missouri, her daughter, Stephanie Scheffel, and son-in-law, David Scheffel of Camden South Carolina.
A proud grandmother, Carol’s heart was fullest with Tyler, Nicholas, and Tanner Scheffel, along with Jacob and Jackson Pfender, who brought boundless joy and light into her days. Her legacy extends further to great-granddaughter McKenzie Scheffel.
Carol was predeceased by her loving parents, Newton and Gwynn Atmore, her sister Barbara Atmore, and her brothers Newton Atmore Jr. and Robert (Bob) Atmore. She is now reunited with them, enveloped in love and memories. She is also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Carol always enjoyed watching her favorite game show, Jeopardy and would happily “compete” with anyone watching with her. Carol always thoroughly enjoyed and took pride in her flowers and plants and kept an impeccable yard. Later in life, Carol enjoyed her daily walks and visiting with her neighbors.
