Carolyn Joyce Pecora

Carolyn “Joyce” Pecora, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Liberty community, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind a rich legacy of faith, love, dedication, and service.

Born and raised in Liberty, Missouri, on June 30, 1942, to William “Bill” and Ione (Makings) Edwards, Joyce was deeply rooted in the community she loved. She graduated from Liberty High School in 1961 and remained a proud supporter of her hometown throughout her life.

On February 1, 1969, she married the love of her life, Charlie Pecora. Together, Joyce and Charlie were true partners, building a life filled with love, family, laughter, and shared business adventures. Their marriage was a beautiful example of devotion and partnership.

Joyce was a woman of many talents. She loved to sew and cross-stitch, and her skilled hands created beautiful keepsakes and heartfelt gifts for those she loved. She was equally celebrated as a baker whose kitchen was always a place of comfort and welcome. Her famous “monster cookies” were legendary- a sweet tradition enjoyed by her family, her beloved grandchildren, friends, and neighbors alike.

Guided by a generous spirit and unwavering faith, Joyce devoted countless hours to serving her community. She loved being involved wherever she could share her time, energy, and talents with others. She held a special place in her heart for the Clay County Museum and Liberty Christian Church. In December 2025, Joyce was honored as an Elder Emeritus by Liberty Christian Church, a recognition that meant more to her than words could express and reflected a lifetime of faithful service.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ione Edwards, and her beloved husband, Charlie Pecora.

She leaves behind a family who adored her and will forever treasure her memory:

Her children: Brenda (Brian) Kubicki, Bill (Lilly) Pecora, and Mike (Jodi) Pecora.

Her grandchildren: Sarah Kubicki, Tim Kubicki, Conor Kubicki, and Andrew Pecora.

Her great-grandchildren: Rex Kubicki and Julian Kubicki.

Her beloved Aunt Bettie Bender, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Joyce’s warmth, generosity, quiet strength, and sweet spirit touched countless lives. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcomed, cared for, and loved, whether through a kind word, a homemade treat, or an act of service.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Laurel at Norterre and Ascend Hospice for the compassionate, loving care they provided to Joyce and to her family.

Memorial donations in Joyce’s honor may be made to Liberty Christian Church or Ascend Hospice.
