Catherine Christine Krpan, 92, peacefully passed away on March 5, 2020. Catherine was born on September 12, 1927, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Catherine Elizabeth (nee Masopust Payne) and Charles William Kunkel. Catherine married late Bob Blaž Thomas Krpan on June 12, 1948, in Kansas City, MO. She is survived by sons; Michael Thomas, John William and James Lee and grandchildren Jennifer, Valerie, Eric, Kari, Johnny, Krystal and Ryan and great grandchildren; Aspen, Willow, Haven, Zadyn and Justin and loving relatives and friends.
Catherine graduated from Missouri School for the Deaf, Fulton, MO in 1947. On March 5, 1946, 74 years ago, Catherine was one of ten students at the MSD who served luncheon for Winston Churchill, President Harry S Truman and guests at Westminster College in Fulton. Mr. Churchill gave his Iron Curtain speech. The students presented Mr. Churchill a solid gold plate engraved with his name, ”V for victory” sign, the manual alphabet and a greeting from the MSD students.
Catherine loved and cheered Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals. She celebrated 2 X 2 World Championships! She caught a football by herself at one of the Chiefs games and kept it, the envy of her boys!
