

Clifford Henry George, 90, of Liberty, Mo., passed away peacefully on Monday morning, September 19th, 2016 at Liberty Health and Wellness. Cliff was born November 28, 1925 in Eastlake, Colorado to his proud parents Henry and Annie George. He was the youngest of 6 children and their only son. Cliff proudly served his country in the Army during the World War II era. He attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado on the GI bill and graduated in 1951 with Bachelor of Science degrees in Business and Mechanical Engineering. Cliff married Marie Harkness in Lamar, Colorado on August 15th, 1949. They had two children. Cliff worked at Maytag in Iowa, before moving to Liberty 62 years ago. He worked for the Vendo Corporation before working for TWA until his retirement in 1990. Over his lifetime Cliff devoted his time to family, church, and civic organizations. He was a Jaycee, Cub Scout Committee Chairman, and Boy Scout Leader. Cliff was an elder at First Presbyterian Church working on Stewardship and Finance as well as Buildings and Grounds. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids at athletic events, musicals, and plays. Cliff enjoyed “projects” and travel with his family. Cliff will be fondly remembered by his daughter Nancy Mabrey and husband Jim of Liberty and son Greg George and wife Janice of Mount Vernon, Wash. He is also survived by grandsons: Mitchell Mabrey and wife Julie of Kansas City, Mo.; Matthew Mabrey and wife Emily of Kansas City, Mo.; and Lieutenant Commander Michael Mabrey and wife Lieutenant Commander Allison Mabrey US Navy of Huntington, Md.; and granddaughter Ashley George of Oak Harbor, Wash.; and 10 great grandchildren: Trig, Gwen, Charlotte, Phineas, Elliot, Lucy, Emma, Lily, Amelia, and Taylor. Cliff was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Annie George, his loving wife Marie, and his sisters: Olwen Ericson, Gertrude George, Millie Hill, Gwen Potter, and Katie Stephenson. Relatives and friends are invited to a service to celebrate the life of Cliff at 4 pm. Sunday, October 9th at the First Presbyterian Church in Liberty. He will be laid to rest at Glenridge Cemetery in Liberty. Memorials can be sent to the First Presbyterian Church in Liberty, Mo.
