

DORIS (WARD) TRUEX, (90), joined her beloved husband on Saturday January 9, 2016 near Overland Park, KS. She was the wife of John F. Truex for 67 years, the mother of two sons and one daughter. Doris was an accomplished watercolor artist and a longtime member of the St. Louis Artists Guild, studying and teaching art. She was an animal lover, an excellent cook, a gracious hostess, a world traveler and a loving mother and grandmother. Doris was born in Meriden, Connecticut and was preceded in death by her husband, John F Truex February 25 2015, one son, Robert Truex, her parents, Joseph and Harriett Ward, two brothers, Joseph and Howard, and a sister, Shirley VanDusen. She is survived by her daughter Charlotte “Kit” Mair (Mike), son Richard Truex, grandsons, Richard “Chip” Truex and Jeffrey Mair, and granddaughters, Victoria Truex and Alexandra Truex, five nieces, and two nephews, and many friends. She attended William Jewell College in Liberty, MO. where she met her husband and has been dedicated to many activities of the College over the years. She was a member of PEO Sisterhood and Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She has been active in the life of each church to which she belonged, especially in the library. Doris was most interested in her family, friends and her pets. She had several black standard poodles, and she was a regular morning walker in Queeny Park with other dog lovers. Visitation and memorial services will be held at the Second Baptist Church in the Tutt Chapel in Liberty, MO. Visitation starts at 10:00 am, with service at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 16, 2016. Lunch to follow. A family Graveside Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Liberty. The family suggests memorial contributions to Kirkwood Baptist Church, Second Baptist Church, William Jewell College, the St. Louis Artists Guild, or a charity of your choice.
