Douglas “Doug” Eugene McCarty, 76, of Liberty, Missouri, passed away April 3, 2026. Doug was born October 17, 1949, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Max and Delilah (Osborn) McCarty. A devoted, hard-working, and honest man, Doug lived with quiet strength and steady purpose, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Doug served in the Army from July 1968 to January 1972 and was deployed to Vietnam during the height of the war. After his military service, Doug worked in construction as a superintendent. He took pride in doing things the right way and was known for telling people how their buildings weren’t up to code—often with the regulation numbers memorized—an example of the exacting standards and integrity he carried throughout his life.
Doug married the love of his life, D’Lorah Crockett, on May 25, 1975. They were best friends and shared nearly 48 years of marriage before D’Lorah passed in 2023. Together, they raised three sons: Ray McCarty, Ed McCarty, and Mike McCarty.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, Max; his mother, Delilah; and his wife, D’Lorah. He is survived by his sons, Ed, Ray, and Mike McCarty. Doug also leaves behind a number of in-laws, grandchildren, friends, and assorted extended family members.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home, 119 East Franklin Street, Liberty, MO 64068. Doors will open to the public at 9:30 a.m.
