

John Edward Gacek, 69, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017. A visitation will be held Friday, February 10th from 9:00-10:00a.m. with funeral service to begin at 10:00a.m. at Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home, 119 East Franklin Street, Liberty, Missouri 64068. Interment with full military honors will be held Friday, February 10th at 12:30p.m. at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Road, Leavenworth, Kansas 66048. John was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to Edward S. and Irene P. (Prelich) Gacek on May 12, 1947. On November 25, 1972 in Azusa, California, John married Darla Burton. He served in the United States Army as an Infantry Sgt. Major until his retirement in 1998. He was stationed at Fort Leavenworth at the end of his service. John found permanent residence in Liberty, Missouri in 2002. John worked for BNSF Railroad as a conductor and retired in March 2016. In his free time, John enjoyed playing golf. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Irene. John leaves behind to carry on his legacy his wife, Darla (Burton) Gacek; daughter, Darla (Gacek) Parker and granddaughter, Kenleigh Parker as well as step-children, Gerald, Terri and Tonilynn Massie and numerous beloved grandchildren and his sister, Effie (Gacek) Ellis and her husband, Mike Ellis.
