Leo Frank Lies, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather of Kansas City, Missouri passed away September 13, 2018 of pancreatic cancer. Frank was born August 5, 1940 in Wichita, Kansas to Leo and Catherine (Simon) Lies.
Frank was Director of Transportation for Farmland Industries from 1966 to 2002. Frank had a successful career with Farmland and retired after 36 years. From there, Frank was instrumental in establishing a Kansas City office for Trinity Logistics. Frank, as Vice President, retired again after 14 years of dedicated service but remained close friends with many.
In addition to Frank’s wife Carol, of 61 years, survivors include four children, Rick Lies, Mike Lies, Kathy Banes and husband Mike, and Christine Lies; one sister, Mary Jo Avila and husband Steve; one brother, Jerome “Chipper” Lies; 3 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews along with other loving family members. Frank was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leon and Billy.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, September 19th at St. James Catholic Church, 309 S. Stewart Rd., Liberty, Missouri. Carol and family will receive family and friends Tuesday, September 18th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at St. James Catholic Church. Frank’s final resting place will be Resurrection Cemetery, 5001 NE Cookingham Drive, Kansas City, Missouri.
