

Mary Louise Milner Phillips, 88, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, formerly of Liberty, MO passed away peacefully October 28, 2014. Her life will be celebrated at 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 14, at Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice. Mary Louise Milner Phillips, widow of Donald Everett Phillips Jr. was born April 9, 1926 in Battle Creek, Michigan, daughter of Ruth and James R. Pierce. She earned BA from Fisk University, Nashville, TN, MS from Butler University, Indianapolis, IN, postgraduate studies, Indiana State University, CMSU and University of Missouri at Columbia, MO. Mary Louise was an elementary teacher and administrator in Indiana and Missouri for approximately 30 years. Community involvement: Elder First Presbyterian Church, Liberty, MO; served on Planning and Review for Heartland Presbytery; Liberty Planning and Zoning Commission; Liberty School Board; Board of Directors for Immacolata Manor; Synergy Service, Inc.; Northland Shepherd Center; Volunteer Director for AARP; life member National Education Association; life member Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority; John Knox Village Auxiliary; member of Book Lovers’ Club of Kansas City, MO. Survived by sons, Brian Wesley Phillips, Indianapolis, IN; Barry Owen Phillips, New York City; sister, Janet Louise Pierce, Decatur, GA; brother, Robert Pierce, Rockville Center, NY; grandchildren, Sterling, Makenzie and Makayla Phillips, Bianca Phillips, Brianca Jenkins and Brad Young.
