Melvin E Johnston, Sr, 87, Liberty, MO passed away July 28, 2014. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 30 at Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Liberty. Melvin was born May 15, 1927 in Dockery, Missouri to Thomas G. and Mabel Johnston. He was an Army Veteran serving in WWII. Melvin retired from J.E. Dunn. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 4043 and American Legion Post 95. Melvin was preceded in death by his wife Lena Johnston, three brothers Norman, Glenn and Larry Johnston and twin granddaughters, Melanie Jo and Megan Jo Altis. Survivors include daughter, Debra (Robert) Cates, son, Gene Johnston; granddaughters, Lenore (Richard) Sterling and Kaylen Johnston and great grandchildren, Jackson and Melena Sterling.
