Nina Lee (Harris) Shannon, 89, of Liberty, Missouri, passed away August 28, 2019. Funeral services will be 11:00am, Saturday, September 7, 2019, with visitation from 9:30-11:00am preceding the service at Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home, 119 East Franklin Street, Liberty, Missouri 64068. Interment will follow in Glenridge Cemetery in Liberty.

Nina was born February 7, 1930 in Smithville, Missouri to Grover Cleveland and Ruth Elizabeth Harris. She attended high school and married the love of her life, John E. Shannon, Jr. in the mid-1940s and started a family. They had two children. She worked occasionally, but Nina’s passion was taking care of her family and her work with the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #4043. She was a former Ladies Auxiliary President and was very active over the years, she spent 18 years going almost every Saturday to the VA hospital with games and home-baked cookies for the soldiers recuperating there.

Nina was a former member of Second Baptist Church and later Chandler Baptist and often volunteered to snuggle the babies in the nursery. She was a very patient person and was known for her wonderful cooking, no matter what she made, it was likely to be the best version a person could eat.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, John, two brothers and three sisters.

Nina is survived by her son, Bill Shannon and his wife Jeanette of Liberty, MO; her daughter, Patty Hylton of Cameron, MO; her sisters, Wilma Shannon of Marshall, MO, Della Clapp of Kearney, MO, Mary Warren of Kearney, MO; and six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
