Venda taught school for 30 years. During her life she was also employed by the Federal Reserve Bank for almost seven years and worked as a bank examiner for five of those years. In the 1980s she held a real estate broker license and practiced in the state of Missouri. After retiring in 2008, Venda worked evenings with the GED program in the NKC School District for several years.
Venda did not want a public funeral. Instead, her family will remember her life with a quiet gathering at her home. Her ashes will be scattered at a site of her choice.
