

Wallace “Wally” Cox, Jr., 80, of Raymore, Missouri passed away on August 13, 2024 at Kansas City Hospice House. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Church Archer Pasley Funeral Home, 119 East Franklin Street, Liberty, Missouri 64068. Following the visitation, Wally will be buried next to the love of his life, Sharon, in Glenridge Cemetery, B Highway, Liberty, Missouri 64068.
Wally was born on May 9, 1944 in Clay County, Missouri to Wallace and Evalyn (Hylton) Cox. He was joined in marriage to Sharon Lynn Kaspar on January 7, 1967. They made their home during early years in Liberty, Kearney then Rich Hill and settled their home in Raymore. They had 4 daughters, Sonya Anne, Christi Lynn, Haley, who passed as an infant, and Lyndsey Anne.
Wally was a member of the Local 101 Chapter of the International Union of Operating Engineers from 1967 until his retirement in 2008 from working his way up over the years as a heavy equipment operator, general foreman, supervisor ended his career as Construction Project Manager helping to develop many areas of infrastructure in the area.
Wally and Sharon shared a number of business ventures together, including Wally’s Drive Inn and Sharon’s Restaurant in Rich Hill, also opening an Drive Inn in and a successful Gun Dealing business with 1100 Gun Shop in Belton which they travelled to countless gun shows during those years meeting and making friends with so many.
Wally was a family man as well as avid music man and played his collection of Fender guitars by ear, he also enjoyed Team Trap Shooting and gun collecting. He definitely enjoyed cars and trucks. They acquired many classic cars over the years, including hot rods, motorcycles, and classics, such as the ‘57 Chevy that he and Sharon so enjoyed together.
He could make anything happen with Sharon by his side. He was a fantastic father and provided everything and more his children could need. He was also a friend to many, able to strike up a conversation anywhere he went.
Wally was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon (Kaspar); his parents, Wallace and Evalyn; his infant daughter, Haley; his sister, Reita Cox; his brother, Tex Cox; and his grandson, Dustin Galeassi.
Wally is survived by his daughters, Sonya Cox, Christi Cox, and Lyndsey (Jake) Wagner; and Mike Cox, his siblings John (Cindy) and sisters Joanne (Jim), Dorothy (Bill), Zettie, Shirley and Connie. grandchildren, Courtney Gillespie, Kaitlyn Gillespie, Jacob (Ririko) Galeassi, Cassidy Gillespie, Preston Wagner and Maverick Wagner; 8 great-grandchildren; and many other beloved friends and family members.
