The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at Loflin Funeral Home, 212 West Swannanoa Avenue, Liberty. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2026 at Smithwood Christian Church, 6809 Kimesville Road, Liberty. She will be laid to rest in Smithwood Christian Church Cemetery.
Barbara was the daughter of the late James Virgil and Lessie Thomas O'Briant and was also preceded in death by her husband, Harmon Byard Humble; son, Phillip Craig Humble; daughter-in-law, Charlene Humble; and sisters, Foylee Pickard, Sarah Faye O'Briant, Mary Elizabeth Poe, Sue O'Briant, Hazel Poe and Ruby O'Briant Smith.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory daughter, Lisa Marshall and her husband, Jeff; son, Dale Humble and his wife, Libby; one granddaughter, Eliza Marshall; and goddaughter, Andrea Yeager.
Barbara was a graduate of Nathanael Greene School and was a basketball player. She worked over 34 years for BB&T as a bank manager. Known for her baking, cooking and canning, some of her most famous were pecan pies, country style steak, potato salad, chili, fried cornbread and green beans. Barbara had a servant's heart and loved the Lord. Her true ministry, beyond a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, was serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She spent many years ministering through women's fellowship groups, Sunday school teaching and choir directing.
