A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Smithwood Christian Church Cemetery, 6809 Kimesville Road, Liberty, with Michael G. Smith officiating and music by Randy Kime. Visitation will follow in the fellowship hall.
Bettie was one of six children born to John Henry Ellis and Effie Clapp Ellis. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Junior, Robert, and James; and sisters, Alice and Bessie.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, husband of 65 years, Joe "Richard" Kime, of the home. She is also survived by a number of beloved nieces and nephews as well as her brothers-in-law, Rhonlee Kime and Rex Kime (Elsie Mae); and sisters-in-law, Frances Smith, Deanna Vickrey (Larry), and Linda Pritchard.
Bettie was a loving wife and a very giving person. She crocheted numerous afghans for family and friends. She and Richard traveled extensively over the United States when they were younger, a lot of times with her brothers, Robert and James. She said they had been to every state except Hawaii and Alaska, and they would get to them when they built bridges. She was very tolerant of Richard's garden and the bounty that he would bring into the kitchen for her to either can or freeze. They also shared this bounty with neighbors, friends, and family. In her later years, she enjoyed walking and doing her crossword puzzles.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Smithwood Christian Church Cemetery Fund, 6809 Kimesville Road, Liberty.
