Bonnie Hicks Ferree, 83, of Liberty passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

Bonnie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be well remembered for her love for family and friends; a constant, hard-working caregiver. She retired from Gilmore Plant and Bulb after more than 30 years of service and spent as much time at the beach as she could.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at The Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Eric Pace officiating; burial will follow the service at Dr. Clyde M. Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Loflin Funeral Home of Liberty.

Bonnie was the daughter of the late Graham Wesley and Ella Mae Smith Hicks and was also preceded in death by her sons, Scott Ferree, Jr. and Gregory Ferree; and daughter-in-law, Dana Ferree.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Leroy Scott Ferree; sons, Wesley Ferree, Craig Ferree and Roger Ferree; daughter-in-law, Rita Ferree; grandchildren, Matthew Ferree, Derek Ferree, and Hunter Ferree and his wife, Ida; and great-grandchildren, Alysa Ferree and Phillip Scott Ferree.

The family would like to give special thanks to their friends and family members who came to help and support them during Bonnie’s illness.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.

You all have our deepest sympathy. Bonnie was one of the most special ladies I.have ever known. How she did all the things she did for so many and for her beloved family. We Will miss her greatly but know heaven has gained a wonderful Christian lady. She is at peace now. You guys did such a good job caring for her she loves you all dearly. She was a great wife to you Scott and loved you so much. God be with you all.
