Randy was an extremely patriotic person and was proud of his service in the US Navy. He was a native of Randolph County and was President of Sheraton Finance Corporation.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Reitzel and Mary Covington Smith.
Surviving is his wife, Denise Gauthier Smith of the home; son, Jason Smith of Murrells Inlet, SC; daughters, Julie Smith Alston (Devin) of Staley and Lisa Nowlin (Kevin) of Greensboro; grandchildren, Sydney Altson, Sean Nowlin and Emma Nowlin; sisters, Marilyn Fowler of Asheboro and Emmaline Severance of Lexington.
