David Ray Jones

On Monday, January 17, 2022, David Ray Jones of Snow Camp, went home and met his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The funeral will be at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Liberty, NC at 2:00pm on Thursday, January 20, 2022. The body will lay in state for an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service. Visitation will take place immediately following the burial. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of David to: Mountain Top Youth Camp, MTYC, 1460 MacKay Ln. Pinnacle, NC 27043 or The Gideons International, Cabarrus South Camp, PO Box 5695, Concord, NC 28027-5695 David worked in construction and farming. He graduated from NC State University Agricultural Institute. David actively served the Lord in church, rest home ministry, construction at MTYC, and evangelism outreaches. He was a faithful member of Shannon Hills Bible Chapel in Greensboro. David was born in Glen Raven, NC in Alamance County, on September 5, 1942, to Buren Earl Jones Sr. and Beatrice Adell Gosnell. He has 4 siblings: Ruth Kimrey, Buren Jones Jr. (Lora), Carol Stewart, and Ellen Bishop. David was a beloved husband and father. He was a gentle man with a servant heart. He loved his family and felt blessed by them. David married his sweetheart, Nellie Elizabeth Coble on June 8, 1963. They were married 58 ½ years. They have 4 children, 27 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. Children: Elizabeth Gibbs (Thomas), Lisa Pennington (Jeff), Gary Jones (Lisa), Gina Burgess (Wade). Grandchildren: Gibbs- Jennifer Barnhardt (Jacob), Joshua (Addie), Jessica, Jonathan (Brooke), Jeremiah. Pennington - Davis, Heather Hylton (Ben), Caleb, Andrew, Julia, Ella. Jones - Lucas (Abi), Marly, Shiloh, Leeson, Silas. Burgess - Emily Rydmark (Seth), Benjamin, Daniel, Timothy, Rebecca, Matthew, Joseph, Gelina, Kendra, Seth, Lydia. Funeral will be conducted by Mark Shelly, Thomas Gibbs, and Ronnie Murdock.
