Denise Amick Southern

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 7103 Sandy Creek Church Road, Staley. Burial will be following the service at Fairview Cemetery in Liberty. The family will have a time of fellowship after the burial at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

Denise loved spending time with her family and was a devoted mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother,“Grandma”. She served her community as a teacher for 32 years at Liberty Elementary School, where she made many great friends and touched countless young lives. Her greatest joy by far was being grandma to “her boys’, Rosston and Gatlin.

Denise was the daughter of the late Roland Eugene Amick and Dorothy Daniel Amick and was also preceded in death by her husband, Ricky Lee Southern.

She is survived by her daughter, Erica Maness (Nick); two grandchildren, Rosston Lee Maness and Gatlin Ray Maness; sister, Gail Powell; and brother, Neal Amick.
