Edward Cecil Stevenson

In honor of Eddie’s wishes no services are planned. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

He was the son of the late J.C. and Ila Jones Stevenson and was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Roland Jennings.

He leaves behind his wife of 50 years and the love of his life, Carol King Stevenson. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Jennings of Fort Myers, Florida, brothers-in-law, Stan King and wife, Suzanne of Cary, NC, Maxton King and wife, Bobbie of Chapin, SC; nieces, Brandy Frick (Dave), Jessica Lindler (Jeremy) and Erica Carter; great-nephews, Wes, Eli, Houston and Knowlton; great-nieces, Josie, Sadie, Joanie, Ada and Keaton; and his beloved canine companion, Cooper.

Eddie was born in Randolph County and lived in Liberty his entire life. He was a 1972 graduate of Eastern Randolph High School, where he was active in sports; and he attended Guilford Technical Community College earning a degree in Industrial Maintenance. Afterwards he acquired his electrical contractors license. He was an avid runner competing in various 10K races throughout North Carolina and in Richmond, Virginia. He loved going to their mountain cabin on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Meadows of Dan, Virginia and made lots of friends there over the years. He also loved his Duke Blue Devils basketball.

He retired from UPS after 25 years of service as an industrial maintenance mechanic. He farmed for many years and was a member of the Guilford County Cattlemen’s Association. He also served on the Town of Liberty Planning and Zoning Board.

The family would like to thank all the staff and volunteers from Hospice of Randolph and the Hospice House staff in Asheboro for their loving care and support for Eddie during his illness. Many thanks also to his caregivers Loretta, Ruth and Wanda who treated us like family. Also thank you to all the friends and family and neighbors that helped out in many different ways.
