Estelle Marion McManus

A funeral service will be held, Monday, January 05, 2015 at 2pm at First Baptist Church, 659 S. Fayetteville Street, Liberty, NC with the Reverend Mike Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Liberty, NC. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 04, 2015 from 6pm – 8pm at Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty, NC.

Estelle was born November 04, 1922 in Lee County, North Carolina. She was the loving wife of the late Ralph T. McManus, Sr. for 62 years, a wonderful mother, friend, worker, community volunteer and member of First Baptist Church in Liberty for over 68 years. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School in Lemon Springs, NC. Mrs. McManus worked as a telephone operator, a production worker at Liberty Hosiery Mill, 12 years as a payroll clerk at Texfi, Inc. and a library assistant at the Liberty Public Library for 15 Years. She was a Meals on Wheels and SHIIP volunteer, receiving the Pauline Smith Award for her service. She loved and honored her church and her Lord by serving as a leader with the WMU, as a Sunday school teacher for over 50 years and by working in numerous positions throughout the years.

Estelle was preceded in death by her parents, Emory A. and Lizzie P. Marion; her step-mother, Dorothy V. Marion; her sisters, Peggy Cooper, Bonnie Hall, Polly Britt and Leslie Marion.

Estelle is survived by her son, Ralph Thomas McManus, Jr. and wife Linda Langley McManus of Liberty; her daughter, Vicki McManus Brower and husband Steve of Asheboro, NC; Granddaughters Beth M. Brown and husband Wayne of Franklinville, NC, Deanna K. Brower of Asheboro, Leigh M. Womble and husband Jarett of Mebane, NC; Grandson Stephen T. Brower of Santa Monica, CA; Great-Grandchildren, Jay Rorie of Asheboro, NC, Whitney and Katelyn Brown of Franklinville and several loving nieces and nephews.

The family would like to especially thank her sitters who offered on going care, love and support for several years, Linda McManus, Beth Brown, Suzanne Stout, Donna Langley, Marie Meacham and Shirley Freeman, as well as the professional and compassionate staffs of Hospice of Randolph County and of Dr. Maura Hamrick of Randolph Medical Associates in Liberty, NC.
