Everett Boyd Bare

December 19, 1935November 15, 2018

Everett Boyd Bare, 82, of Pleasant Garden, NC left this temporary life November 15, 2018 and is now with his Lord and Savior. Everett Boyd was born in Liberty, NC on December 19, 1935, to the late Wade Hampton Bare and Edith Foust Bare. After graduation from Liberty High School, he served in the U. S. Army and attended Kings Business College. He had a lengthy career at Sears, Roebuck and Company before retiring in 1990. He was preceded in death by his parents; his firstborn daughter and wife’s namesake, Ava Marie; and siblings Helen Brown, James Bare, Sara Nichols and Pat Coble.

Everett Boyd was all about the simple things: a long walk, feeding birds, gardening, hunting on Thanksgiving mornings and yes, push mowing his yard (along with the neighbors’ yards on occasion). Throughout his life, he was an avid sports fan and actively participated on various teams. He enjoyed nothing more than spur of the moment pickup games in the side yard with childhood friends and family. He was particularly fond of the Redskins and the Duke Blue Devils. One always knew where to find him on game day! He was an active member of Pleasant Garden Baptist Church and most recently enjoyed Wednesday lunches at Kidd’s Drive-In with the Liar’s Club.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ava Marie; children Donna Marley and husband, Timothy; Dan Bare and wife, Nicole; and Philip Bare and wife, Jamie; adored grandchildren Lindsey, Zach, Kaitlyn (Nate), Daniel, Caleb and Noah; step-grandson Adrian (Ashley); great-granddaughter, Kinley Raine; step-great-grandchildren Paisley, Lincoln and Remie; and granddog, Ellie. His siblings – Nancy Holt, Virginia Walters, Verl Fleeman and Wallace Bare (Mary Sue), also survive.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life barbeque on Tuesday, November 20 between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Garden Baptist Church Family Life Center. A private graveside service is being held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pleasant Garden Baptist Church Children’s Ministry or Youth Ministry Scholarship Fund (1415 Neelley Road, Pleasant Garden, NC 27313) or Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro (2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405). Loflin Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
